"Surviving Demon Island", by Jaci Burton - Review

Its always interesting to find out where authors get ideas for their stories. I’ve chatted with Jaci Burton online on a number of occasions at a couple of Yahoo Reader groups and follow her blog regularly. Jaci enjoys television and I was surprised to find out that a number of ideas for the stories she writes and the characters she develops have come from that medium.

Jaci Burton was interviewed on April 23, 2009, by Angela Wilson, from Pop Syndicate Blog, here is her response to a question regarding the impetus for her 'Demon Hunters' series.

Angela: “How did you get the idea for the Demon Hunters series?”

Jaci: “I was watching a special on the making of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the movie with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. And the special dealt with how tough Angelina Jolie was and how she did a lot of her own stunts in the movie. And the idea came to me about this kickass action movie heroine, and what would happen if she was taken out of her element and thrust into a different kind of world. The idea just spiraled from there and I created the demon world and everything in it. Funny how that happens sometimes.”

I’ll say! IMHO Jaci Burton, has created an amazing paranormal world and series of stories based on this seed of an idea.

Surviving Demon Island

Gina Bliss, Hollywood’s top female action star is ready for a break. She has been filming movies for two years with no vacation and when she is approached with an opportunity to do a reality television series Gina initially declines. That is until her agent, Dee explains the show is called “Surviving Demon Island”, and is set on a tropical island where Gina will be able to use weapons to kill the ‘demons’. Gina prides herself on being a “kickass” action star. She is very competitive loving sports, weaponry, and martial arts, so filming the show sounds like just the “vacation”, she would enjoy.

A few weeks later Gina finds herself aboard a ship bound for an undisclosed island where the filming of the reality show will take place; there she is introduced to the host, “Louis” a distinguished older gentleman. She also meets the other competitors, Olivia, Ryder, Jake, Shay and Trace, all either extreme sports enthusiasts or martial arts experts except for Jake who is a laser specialist and the ‘odd’ one out in the group. Gina also meets “Derek Marks”, a ruggedly ‘ugly’ handsome man with a ‘bad boy’ aura who she is immediately attracted to.

Derek ‘works’ for Louis and it is explained to the eager participants that he will be running the competition; training them and making sure they followed the rules of the game. If you like your heroes Alpha, sexy as hell and tortured, you are going to love Derek Marks, and as the story progresses, he and the very competitive Gina with “diva” tendencies blaze up the pages.

There is also a second group of competitors on the island that don’t mingle with Gina’s group. This raises some suspicion for Gina, however her questions are answered in a vague manner if at all.

What the competitors don’t know is that they are being tested and weeded out as to their suitability to become demon hunters with a clandestine organization called the “Realm of Light”, which has been in existence since the time of Christ. Members of The Realm of Light were given the great power as guardians between heaven and hell; essentially they maintain the balance between good and evil. The evil in Jaci Burton’s paranormal world is some pretty scary demons known as “The Sons of Darkness”.

Following a period of intensive training and preparation, the competitors are paired off in teams to hunt demons at night, who in this mock exercise, were humans with specially marked clothing. The competitors are equipped with night vision wear and pretend weapons for the test and given specific rules as to how to score points in the ‘game’. However, the exercise and demonstration goes awry when actual demons invade the island and the under equipped and ill prepared hunters are faced with an all out war.

Gina and the rest of the 'new recruits' are now faced with a ‘baptism by fire’. Louis and Derek ‘fess up’, telling a very sceptical and angry group about the Realm of Light, and why they were brought to the island. Louis also explains he chose each of them as possible recruits because they have suffered immeasurable loss at the hands of the demons at some point in their lives. Gina and the rest of the group are given a choice, stay and join “The Realm of Light”, or have their memories wiped and leave the island. (Yes, Louis does have special powers.) Of course, they all choose to stay and join the cause.

This sets the stage for a life and death struggle against the demons who have invaded the island and come out at night in full force. The hunters have to battle different forms of demons that you will learn about if you read the book. I will say, some of them are more grotesque than others.

Gina’s character goes through a rapid maturation because she has to learn to temper her competitive ‘take charge’, demanding nature fostered by her movie star status and take orders, working with the team. She unfortunately learns the hard way.

So, with a demon war raging on a beautiful tropical island, Derek and Gina’s love sparks and flames. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, Jaci Burton pens wonderful love scenes and this story is no different. The “Demon Hunter” series is published under Dell romance so the erotic scenes are not as graphic as say, one of Jaci’s Berkley Heat titles. However, they are nonetheless extremely sensual, hot and intense. Neither Derek nor Gina want to share their heart with another and when it happens they are forced to contend with dire circumstances because a demon lord captures her.

Here is a short piece of narrative just to give those of you who haven't read any of these books a taste of the dialogue and erotic prose. Gina has come to Derek's cottage unannounced and she finds him, just out of the shower, wrapped in a towel and nothing else. ;)

" And I've had just about enough of your arrogant attitude. I don't know why I bothered coming here." She palmed his chest and shoved him, hard. He hadn't expected it and stumbled back. The towel came loose and fell to the floor and her gaze shot south, widening with distinct interest.

Ah, hell. Instinct roared to life and he grasped her wrists, but instead of dragging her to the door and throwing her out of his room like he should have, he jerked her against him, wrapped one arm around her back, and crushed his mouth against hers.

He knew she'd taste hot and spicy, like carnal pleasures he wanted and shouldn't have. But he had no idea just how hot she'd be.

God, he burned. He should have never touched her, never tasted her. His cock lurched between them now that he didn't have the towel to hold it back. She whimpered and tensed, almost as if she was trying to decide between shoving him again or melting into his arms. He didn't know which way he wanted her to decide.

She melted. He drew her closer, deepening the kiss, sliding his tongue inside to taste the whiskey that lingered there while he moved one hand over her back, jerking her dress up to her waist and balling the material in his fist."

Derek also has to come to terms with some frightening revelations about his heritage that he is not sure he can live with.

“Surviving Demon Island”, is a paranormal romance, however I also found it to be a rollicking adventure story that I had trouble putting down. Jaci Burton has a wonderful sense of humor and the narrative of this novel is laced with wit that had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. I am about half way through “Hunting the Demon”, the second book in the series and I hope to have a review posted for it this week.

The week of June 22, 2009, in honor of the publication of Jaci Burton’s latest Demon Hunter book “Taken By Sin”, I’m going to be hosting a Giveaway of two of the series books, winners choice. So, watch for an announcement closer to the date.

"Man After Midnight", by Devyn Quinn - Review

Devyn Quinn’s books have not disappointed me yet and this is equally true of “Man After Midnight”, her latest publication and sequel to her stellar novel “Flesh and the Devil”. While Brenden Wallace, the protagonist of “Flesh and the Devil” is certainly referenced at the beginning of this book, that is the extent of his involvement in the plot. "Man After Midnight", is “Dani Wallace’s” story, and it is set in a different dimension. Using wonderful descriptive prose and graphic imagery, Devyn Quinn takes a reader through a ‘spellbinders continuum’, a dimensional gate or wormhole to an alternate dangerous world where the hero of the novel exists, and I have to say, for me, it was a wild sexy ride.

Man After Midnight

Danicia “Dani” Wallace is broke and in debt. She strips for a living and lives in the basement apartment of her brother Brendan and his wife Líadán’s home. Dani is a Wyr-witch, belonging to “an ancient clan called the Gwyd’llyr, or seers of purity”. Both she and her brother are direct descendants of the Wyr bloodline, through their Scotch/Irish heritage. What I like about this heroine is her wit and the story is laced with it, she isn’t a stereotypical ‘kick ass’ heroine, in fact she admits when she is frightened out of her mind and knows her limitations. Essentially, Dani has a wonderful sense of humor and she uses it to deal with her insecurities, fears and goofs as her spells usually go awry.

Then, an enigmatic, mesmerizing gentleman Dani refers to as ‘Butterscotch’, because of the color of his hair, hires her for a private strip session. Dani isn't a hooker, in fact, it has been a long time since she has been with a man. She knows her admirer wants her, he has been in and out of the club where she works on numerous occasions watching her perform, and the sexual tension and attraction between them increases each time she has seen him. When he finally speaks to her, his speech is courtly and ‘quaint'; his touch is electrifying. She finds ‘Butterscotch’ irresistible and as her dance becomes more erotic and enticing a reader can feel the sensual heat boiling between them.

Following a night of wild passionate lovemaking with 'Butterscotch', a mystery man Dani never expects to see again, she awakens in her apartment in the late afternoon the following day. She daydreams about seeing her magnificent lover again when the bellowing of her brother to get her “freaking ass up here right now”, startles her. Dani enters the living room to find the very man she was daydreaming about, flanked by two bodyguards and another gentleman who is engaged in an animated discussion with “Counselor Nash”, her tutor in the magical arts and Wyr representative. All the 'visitors' are dressed in Victorian era garb...

Dani is astounded to learn that her mystery lover is “Prince Casedren Teraketh of Sedah”, and he has come to propose marriage. Following an absolutely hilarious exchange with Brendan when he learns his sister has been intimate with the ‘prince’ it is explained to the Wallace's that Sedah is a dimensional world interwoven throughout earth. Counsellor Nash also explains that Casedren and his people are extremely long lived and experts in the ways of magick as well as being shapeshifters. The Jadians and Wyr had a long history of battling until a treaty was struck. Jadians, you see can only produce male heirs. Therefore in exchange for the Jadian's not 'raping and pillaging earth', the Wyr allow them to select females from earth as mates. Casedren is next in line to the Jadian throne and he needs to present himself with a suitable consort if he is going to succeed. Why? Casedren has an evil, and I mean evil younger twin, Cellyn, who is bent on ascending the throne by whatever means. With renewal of the monarchy so too is the treaty renewed if the new king chooses. If Cellyn succeeds in contesting Casedren's right to the throne and becomes the next Jadian king it is expected he will tear up the treaty bringing about an apocalypse.

In spite of being unsure and frightened Dani accepts Casedren’s proposal, leaving all that is familiar and travels to Sedah. She doesn't understand the inexorable sexual draw she feels for Casedren, which crackles whenever they are in close proximity, however she is swiftly becoming addicted to his touch.

Here is an example of Devyn Quinn’s wonderful prose as Dani travels through the wormhole to Sedah with her Prince.

“Stepping through the dimensional gate was like stepping in front of a freight train and being hit head on. The forces within the vortex were trying to push her away, spit her out like something foul and terrible.

Struggling to keep hold of Casedren’s hand, Dani clenched her eyes shut against the wave of nausea ripping through her. Dimensional currents spun around her, shards of light and psychedelic colors slashing through her lids, invading her brain. The ground disappeared beneath her feet. Casedren’s hand slipped from hers as another force seized hold of her. Invasive claws dug into her bowels, even as strange flashes of illumination smacked her eyes from inside her closed lids.

The gate wanted her out. The gate wanted her gone.”

Man After Midnight © Devyn Quinn

Dani is plunged into a cold, icy, dark medieval world that reflects the old king’s depression. King Bastien, Casedren’s father, is mourning the recent loss of his wife. The bleakness of the land reflects his mood and grief. Shortly after her arrival she is introduced to Cellyn who is evil incarnate, dabbles in black magic and mind walking. Dani is drawn into a power struggle between the good twin, who she grows love desperately and the evil twin, a depraved sociopath.

There are, however positives in her new environment, Casedren shows Dani that simple thought can physically manifest itself throughout the realm. By simply imagining furniture, clothing etc. it will appear. There are little dragon messengers, servants shift walls and move through them, she is treated as a princess. I thoroughly enjoyed the fantasy element in the narrative of this novel.

Casedren, is a complex hero who I found to be beautiful, artistic, gentle, and tortured. He has no desire to ascend the throne of Sedah, but will do so to preserve peace and a decent way of life for his people. Casedren has been besotted with Dani for longer than she realizes and the erotic scenes penned between them are off the charts hot, explicit and intense. Devyn Quinn writes amazing erotica and this heroine and hero share a psychic as well as physically intimate connection. The old king tasks Casedren with opening “The Eye of Devine Wisdom”, to prove himself worthy of the ascending the throne. Casedren and Dani learn opening the eye requires conjuring ‘sexual magic’, and, well get out the ice water and fan ladies.... ;)

The catch is that they must succeed opening the ‘eye’ or Casedren will be put to death and by default Dani will become Cellyn’s, a fate worse than death. However, old King Bastien is a clever, wily old fellow and manipulates them all bringing about a surprising plot twist and climax to the story.

Cellyn, I will say, invades Dani’s mind in an attempt to seduce and torture her.

“Man After Midnight”, has magical fantasy, as well as science fiction and paranormal elements combined and woven into a beautiful erotic love story. I found it to be an exciting, occasionally frightening and at times a bittersweet read. There are biblical historical references in the narrative with respect to the origins of Casedren's people that I thought was quite brilliant.

"Man After Midnight", is my first inscribed Devyn Quinn book and I will treasure it.

The "Best Movie Kissing Contest", Winner!

As moderator of this most important election, I decided to cut the voting off early today for a couple of reasons..

A: I know those of you living in the lovely USA have a nice long holiday weekend to look forward to and I doubt many of you are going to be spending it online.

B: Most importantly, when I looked at the poll this morning and saw there were 302 votes (WOW) with a certain scene leading by 266 to 36, I decided to put poor 'Rose' and 'Jack' from the "Titanic" out of their misery. A certain ship can only be pummeled by so many icebergs and sink so many times after all. Poor thing....

So, the BEST EVER "Kissing Scene In a Movie", according to all of you who stopped by and cast your vote over the last number of weeks is....

No Surprise Here (LOL):

Drum Roll Please

"Margaret and John"

"NORTH AND SOUTH"

I'm not going to post the video from North and South again because it's been up so many times and I thought this picture passed to me by Barbara, illustrated the moment exceptionally well. :)

I bow to the perfection of the scene kissage from "North and South", however I have a personal favorite of all the videos we have had to choose from over the past few weeks and couldn't resist posting it. lol

This would be the
scene from the movie "Catch and Release", staring Timothy Olyphant as 'Fritz' and Jennifer Garner as 'Gray'. This scene was originally suggested by VampFanGirl.

For anyone who stops by and would like to comment, I would LOVE to know what your personal kiss scene favorite was? Click here to see the various posts.

Finally, I am going to ask if you would be interested in participating in a "Best Television Kissing Scene", poll/election? This would start in September and finish prior Christmas. :)

(No Kristie, You Cannot Re-Submit North and South. lol).

This would include television series, mini-series, reality television, soaps, you name it. I have a few hunted up already, however would need some help because I watch next to no television.

By "help", I don't mean just the name of the television scene, I would need the actual You Tube link. :)

Thank you EVERYONE who contributed ideas for the "Best Movie Kiss Scene" vote.

An extra special THANK YOU to all of you who stopped by and voted, making it so much fun!!

Have a WONDERFUL weekend everyone. :)

"Hot In Here", by Sophie Renwick - ARC Review

It is always a great pleasure to thoroughly enjoy a new to me author’s work. I first became aware of Sophie Renwick’s novels, or should I say Charlotte Featherstone, when Barbara collaborated with VampFanGirl and posted a thorough review and discussion of “Addicted” at “Happily Ever After”, blogspot. Sophie Renwick, you see, also writes historical romance as Charlotte Featherstone and you may well be familiar with her work written under that pseudonym as “Addicted”, has received high accolades.

Hot In Here”, is a contemporary erotic romance with a friends who become lovers theme, which is my favorite. I loved Ms. Renwick’s voice in this novel and along with a lovely erotic romance she has penned a small town family dynamic into the plot that I found very endearing.

Hot In Here

Former country girl, Jenna McCabe is an intelligent, professional businesswoman, having built a successful public relations and marketing company from scratch with very little capitol. Jenna is a “force to be reckoned with in business”. However, the “business of being a woman had never come easily”, therefore her longtime friend and confidant Bryce Ryder has never felt a sexual attraction to her. Jenna however, has been in love with the handsome, popular Bryce since age 17 and has waited for years for him to see her as a love interest.

Bryce is a very successful gifted chef with his own restaurant and television show “Heating It Up”. While he comes from a wealthy family, he has made his own fortune providing culinary excellence to his patrons. When he makes an inappropriate comment concerning women, which is reported and embellished in “Celebrity Gossip” magazine his career is put in jeopardy. Bryce then calls on Jenna to develop a public relations plan that will put him back in good stead with his patrons and viewers.

This presents the perfect opportunity for Jenna to finally encourage Bryce to see her as not just a friend, but as a desirable sexy woman. She is fully aware however that Bryce has never thought of her that way. In fact, he is a known womanizer with a new slim beautiful woman on his arm every night of the week.

Bryce is a man scorned following his ex-live in girlfriend “Chrissy”, using him for money and nearly bankrupting him in the process. Jenna was there all through his tough time and, in fact was instrumental in negotiating a “Chrissy” pay off. Needless to say, Bryce is cynical where women are concerned. His whole focus is his career and restaurant.

As the story opens Bryce is hosting Jenna at his restaurant to review her damage control plan. He has always viewed her as his close friend and confidant, a ‘girl next door’ type hailing from their small rural town. However, suddenly over the intimacy of delectable food and business conversation, Bryce begins to have overwhelmingly hot sexual fantasies concerning Jenna. He doesn’t understand why, she isn’t his ‘type’ after all, but with every mouthful of culinary sweetness entering Jenna’s luscious mouth he feels an undeniable sexual attraction to her. Their new very intimate sexual relationship blossoms following that meeting when Bryce unexpectedly turns up at her apartment.

There is a scintillating parallel between mouthwatering culinary delights and sex in this novel that IMHO enhances the erotic scenes. In addition, through Ms. Renwick’s lovely erotic prose, I could feel Bryce’s love for Jenna deepen during their emotional intimate encounters. This is a hot erotic romance and there are a number of intense sexually explicit scenes in changing settings, which I felt also, enhanced their deepening feelings. First a reader is shown the city where both Jenna and Bryce’s businesses and homes are located. Then we are whisked to romantic Tuscany where Bryce has a lovely old home overlooking a beautiful vineyard. Finally, they return home to the small rural town where both of them grew up under very different circumstances.

An interesting family dynamic is established in that we are introduced to three brothers from the Ryder family, Bryce, Trey, and Tyson, and, three sisters from the McCabe family, Jenna, Sarah and Emily. Trey and Sarah are the secondary characters given the most page time as they hatch a scheme to get Jenna and Bryce together, which backfires terribly causing our heroine, who is already suspicious of her hero’s intentions, to spurn him completely. Bryce then has to do some serious damage control to earn back Jenna’s trust.

Trey and Sarah have an adversarial relationship, in that she professes to ‘hate’ him, however he doesn’t quite understand why. Trey is an internationally acclaimed photographer and is quite accustomed to having beautiful models at his beck and call. He is aloof and sexy as hell, an intriguing character with significant commitment issues. There is a hint of a turbulent family history with respect to the Ryder men, Trey especially, that you will have to learn about through reading the novel.

We only get glimpses of Tyson and Emily in “Hot In Here”, however, I’m hoping we will learn more about them if there is a sequel.

There is also a subplot concerning a struggling rural family on the verge of losing their farm and way of life to corporate greed and urban sprawl. In this context, Ms. Renwick brings a very real problem to life as part of her lovely fictional erotic romance.

The question is, can Jenna trust her formerly womanizing best friend enough to make the ultimate leap and profess her love for him? Further, can Bryce convince Jenna of his sincere intentions, in spite of his history and making some significant mistakes during the course of their relationship changing from one of friends to lovers?

I want to thank Sophie Renwick for sharing her wonderful story with me and I will look forward to reading more of her work in future.

VampFanGirl of Lovin’ Me Some Romance blogspot and Barbara of Happily Forever After blogspot have both posted excellent reviews of this novel.

"Hot In Here", will be published on June 2, 2009. Please feel free to share the lovely widget in my right sidebar. :)

It's The Finals "Which Movie Has The Best Kissing Scene?"

"BEST MOVIE KISSING SCENE"

Week #2 Semi-Final Winner

Thank you to everyone who stopped by this week and voted to elect the "Best Movie Kissing Scene". There was an amazing turn out again this week with 77 votes.

The overwhelming favorite in the Week #2 Semi Final was the kissing scene from "Titanic", with 49 votes or 63% of the total. The kissage scenes from "Practical Magic" and "Cold Mountain", tied at 14 votes or 18% of the total.

The Final Scenes For Your Voting Consideration

The kissing scene from “Titanic”,was first considered in week #3 and it tied with "Practical Magic", when then both received 15 votes or 41% of the total.

Here is Kate Winslet as “Rose DeWitt Bukater”, and Leonardo DiCaprio as “Jack Dawson”, engaging in their gentle kiss at the front of the doomed ship.

I think it's the fact that this was a forbidden shipboard romance between two people from completely different classes that added to sensuality of this scene.

What do you think makes this scene special?

The kissing scene from "North & South", was first considered in Week #2 and it smoked the other competitors with 41 votes or 55% of the total.

However, things were quite different in Semi-Final #1 when it won by a slim margin of 4 votes or 5% of the total when "The Notebook", was up for consideration as well.

Here is Richard Armitage as "John Thornton" and Daniella Denby-Ashe as "Margaret Hale". I've watched this scene a number of times now and I think it is the subtle nuances and touching between the actors, that make it so special.

What do you think makes this scene special?

As always the poll is placed at the top of the page, voting will conclude one week today (Friday May 22nd) when the winner will be announced!

May the best um "kissage" win! lol

"Outlander", Interpretive Brilliance At "The Trillionth Page"..

I posted here some time ago about my past obsession with Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander", story of Jamie Fraser and time traveller Claire Randall.

During my usual blog visiting this morning I came upon a gem of graphic interpretive greatness concerning a couple of the more famous lines from the original novel.

"The Trillionth Page", is one of my favorite blogspots, if you are an "Outlander", fan/groupie check out Carolyn Jean's post!

Dani Wallace forged her powers as a guardian of light–but it is the darkness that tempts her most strongly. Drawn to her fiery beauty and brilliance, Casedren, the prince of a mysterious underworld, initiates her into erotic rites designed to mold her into his compliant consort.

Yet Dani refuses to surrender at once.

But she cannot resist a man so masterful. The slightest touch of her enigmatic captor ignites an uncontrollable passion to know all of him–and the forbidden secrets he teaches…

Theme: Demon/Shape-shifter

"Man After Midnight", is the sequel to "Flesh and The Devil", however Devyn indicates it can be read as a stand-alone. I've reviewed many of Devyn's books here at Closetwriter and will be posting my thoughts with respect to "Man After Midnight" within the next week so stay tuned! I have to agree with Devyn, Dani Wallace's story can be read as a stand-alone. (Sorry Devyn - I had really hoped to have it done for the contest!)

Review:

“Quinn draws readers into this incredibly dark, sensual world, where sons of Lucifer are another race living in a parallel dimension. With its sexy characters and cunning and malevolent villains, this has all the makings of a hot, thrilling read. 4 Stars.”- Romantic Times

Today I am re-posting my original review of "Flesh and the Devil", the pre-equal to "Man After Midnight", for those of you who might be interested. *Please Note: "Flesh and the Devil is NOT available to win in the contest."

"Flesh and the Devil", was the first book written by Devyn that I ever read, and I could hardly put it down.

Brendan Wallace is sitting in a hotel room, his wrists are bound at the back of the chair with silk scarf. A beautiful and exotic woman from an escort service is in the room with him. Brendan is walking a fine line because while living a sexual fantasy, he is also an undercover vice officer working to expose a prostitution ring. Brendan wants desperately to taste the forbidden but knows he cannot cross the line because he has a job to do.

As woman begins a careful erotic seduction and vivid carnal dreams swirl through Brendan’s mind, he tries to keep control as money has to change hands if he and his partners (who are filming the scene in an adjacent room) are going to make the arrest. After a series of seductive, suggestive whispers, the woman pierces Brendan with a clever sharp-tongued barb and leaves the hotel room. The suspect has made him as a cop and played him like a fiddle.

Later, Brendan sits alone at a bar drowning his sorrows and we learn that he is newly divorced and his ex-wife Jenna is pregnant and about to remarry. Brendan hasn’t had sex in a year; he is lonely and has no personal life. He is new on the vice squad and now has to face the brunt of jokes because the prostitute made him as an officer. However, the blue eyed woman is haunting him, he wants her in the worst way but knows it isn't possible. Brendan pulls her scented red silk scarf out of his pocket and the perfume heightens his sensual daydream, then he hears a soft voice with a slight European accent. Brendan looks up from his musings and she is there.

Brendan becomes acquainted with Líadán Niamh, a woman who he should reject but cannot. Líadán embodies every fantasy Brendan has ever dreamt of in a woman. Aside from her beauty, she is intelligent and sexually adventuresome taking him to new heights of arousal and fulfillment. Oh, and Líadán bites.

I initially thought Ms. Quinn had written Brendan as a sexual submissive in this book, however it was quite the opposite. Brendan proves to be an incredibly strong Alpha male protagonist as his relationship with Líadán intensifies and the plot progresses.

Líadán is a complex character. Kidnapped from her little farm in Hungary centuries earlier by Auguste Maximilian, a depraved psychopath, she is eventually turned into a vampyr and enslaved by him. Auguste has to be one of the most vile, sadistic vampyr/shifter antagonists I’ve read in a paranormal romance. His minions are enslaved through fear and dark magic. He feeds on torturing, terrorizing and murdering young women.

When the mutilated bodies of women begin to show up in Brendan’s town, he and his colleagues are ordered to investigate the killings.

Through his involvement with Líadán, Brendan is ensnared in a web of betrayal and intrigue that could ultimately cost both their lives. The plot of this story is full of twists and turns. My knuckles were white gripping the book at times and I could hear myself saying, "no don't go there, don't do that". lol

Brendan has a sister Danicia (Dani) who is gifted with special powers as a witch and plays a pivotal role in the storyline. Dani is an awesome character and I understand she is the heroine of Ms. Quinn’s forthcoming novel “Man After Midnight”, I am eagerly looking forward to the read.

Flesh and the Devil is a darkly erotic, exciting and at the same time frightening novel. There is one scene in the book that involves the slaughter of a domestic animal that I found horrifying, because of who I am. But again, it is written in keeping with the nature of these vampyr creatures. I have to say that the climax of this book is absolutely spectacular and thrilling.

If you like your paranormal reads on the darker side that gets your heart pumping and blood flowing I highly recommend “Flesh and the Devil”.

"Personal Possessions" by Devyn Quinn: A bad girl on the run meets a master of domination in a mysterious town called Helle–and Nikki Malone is about to be introduced to the most exquisite sensations by a man like no other. Jackson Sullivan meets her more than halfway….

"Captive Heat" by Jodi Lynn Copeland: Leia is compelled to explore her innermost desire: to be held captive by a dark, sensual god of a man. Sebastian's uncommon sexual skills are so potent she is ready to submit to him in every way.

"Rapture Bound" by Anya Howard: Gillian Nordstrom doesn't fear Bruce Wolff's hard body or his masterful touch. She craves the intense pleasure that only a dominant lover can give...and in return, she willingly obeys as he strips her down and satisfies all her secret desires...

Review:

“Dangerous Ties by Devyn Quinn, Jodi Lynn Copeland and Anya Howard is a page-turner. They know how to blend just the right amount of suspense, passion and stirring heat to make this read explosive. The incredible pacing of the three stories pulls the reader inside the pages like a magnet. This assortment of well-dispersed stories by three talented authors should not be missed. 4 cups.” - Coffeetime Romance

The lucky winners will be announced tomorrow at approximately 2:30 pm EST. Entries will be accepted until 2:00 pm EST.

**One entry only per person please!**

Winners will have until Monday May 18, 2009, to respond or there will be a redraw.

This time, he’ll never let her go…

Chicago Special Agent Shane Dominic was in love with Laura Vasquez until the day she left him and married another man. Thirteen years may have passed, but Laura’s never disappeared from his fantasies, or destroyed his desire to learn the truth about why she left him. When her husband, the criminal mastermind behind an international ring of thieves, is murdered, Shane knows this is his one last, desperate chance to learn Laura’s secrets. And he’s not above using their scorching hot passion for one another and a little domination to do it.

One look at Shane, and Laura’s own memories come back to haunt her. Her feelings run deep, but she’d never divulge her secrets—a desperate vow that’s compromised when Shane stuns her by taking her as his captive to a secluded cabin. Here, she will finally belong to him, be subjected to his every torturously erotic whim, and be forced to trust him with a shocking truth she’s hidden for so long—one that will expose them to a danger closing in on the both of them.

I think this one sounds awesome and I can't wait!

"BEST MOVIE KISSING SCENE"

Week #1 Semi-Final Winner

I cannot believe it but there was an amazing amount of traffic through closetwriter this past week thanks to Beth Kery, her generous book donation and subsequent Giveaway!

Anyway, as a result there was 104 votes for the movie scenes. And, it was close, day by day between "The Notebook" and "North and South". Poor "Never Been Kissed", kind of got left in the dust! lol

At the end of the day, "North and South", prevailed by a slim margin of 5 votes. It received 49 votes or 47% of the total. "The Notebook", received 44 votes or 42% of the total. "Never Been Kissed", received 11 votes or 10% of the total.

So in memory of a valiant contestant I have posted "The Notebook", kissage picture above...

Kissage Semi-Finals Week #2:

The lovely Amanda McIntyre, who is an author and has written some wonderful emotional erotic romances, originally suggested the first choice this week. This scene comes from the movie “Practical Magic”, staring Sandra Bullock as “Sally Owens”, Mark Feuersteine plays “Michael”. I think the chemistry and ‘magic’ surrounding this magical kiss is wonderful!

When I originally posted this scene I thought it was at the end of the movie, then I watched it with my mother a couple of weeks ago and realized that wasn't the case at all. This in fact is one of the opening scenes. Poor "Michael", meets an untimely end because of the "curse".

Yikes!!!

The second offering this week is from the James Cameron blockbuster “Titanic”. As I said when this was originally posted it wouldn't be a “Best Movie Kissing Scene” competition without the famous kissage between Leonardo and Kate from this movie!

Here is Kate Winslet as “Rose DeWitt Bukater”, and Leonardo DiCaprio as “Jack Dawson”, doing the smoochies at the front of the doomed ship.

*Sigh*

The final scene up for consideration in the second Semi-Final is from the movie “Cold Mountain”, staring Nicole Kidman as Ada Monroe and the "criminally beautiful", Jude Law as Inman.

I think there is just something about the intensity of this kissage that makes the scene almost "criminally sexy", lol!

As previous, the poll is located at the top of the main page.

On May 15th (a week today), I will be posting the "Finals". It will be interesting to see which scene survives to go up against “North and South”.

**PLEASE NOTE FOLKS - YOU MUST COMMENT EVERY DAY TO BE ENTERED.
NO COMMENT - NO ENTRY!**

Okay, so today I'm doing things just slightly different. I'm posting my original review of "Wicked Burn", which many of you will have read already, however I wanted to share it again because it too was a special, emotional read for me.

I posted this review in early January of 2009.

I came to know of Beth Kery's book "Wicked Burn", when she was doing promotional blog tours first at author Megan Hart's blog and then at Novel Thoughts & Book Talk. After reading the synopsis and interviews, I decided it was a book I had to read and added it to my order for this month. A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Ms. Kery via the Amazon loop asking me if I'd like to read and review her book. After reading the e-mail a couple of times because I couldn't believe my eyes I responded ABSOLUTELY! Then I worried that I wouldn't like the book as I usually only review stories I enjoy, however I need not have "Wicked Burn", IMHO is a beautifully penned erotic romance.

Wicked Burn

Vic Savian is a ruggedly handsome, temperamental, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright who lives weekdays in a luxury apartment complex located in downtown Chicago while directing his latest play. He has seen his female neighbour who lives across the hall on two occasions and felt an instantaneous sexual attraction to her, he wants her, badly. One night Vic hears raised voices in the hallway and despite never having heard her voice, he knows it is his neighbour and intercedes when she is being manhandled by an aggressive suitor.

Niall Chandler noticed her handsome neighbour during a silent elevator ride one day and when Vic invites her into his apartment for a drink after assisting her, she does something completely uncharacteristic and accepts. They have a drink, exchange a few words, she introduces herself and Vic gives her his first name. Then they exchange more than words.

I'm always looking for better adjectives to describe the attraction and eroticism writers pen between a heroine and hero in a good romance book. The best way I can describe the sexual tension and attraction between this couple is it literally BOILS, and the erotic encounters between Niall and Vic are nuclear grade hot.

However, this book isn't only about hot sex, their love story tugged my heartstrings. Following a horrible tragedy resulting from violence three years previously, Niall is a member of humanity's walking wounded. Her life has literally disintegrated around her. She has her career at the Chicago Museum of Fine Art and she travels. However, she struggles with inner turmoil, her loss, her guilt and the shackles of the unrealistic expectations of her old school Catholic parents. The story is about her journey to emotional wellness and renewed ability to share her pain and love with another human being. Niall is a tiny, delicate, sweet, vulnerable, woman. She keeps her past closed deep inside a little Pandora's box, fearful of what will happen if she opens the lid.

Vic has his own emotional baggage following a very destructive and volatile relationship with his former movie star fiancé 'Jenny'. He is a sexual dominant who speaks bluntly and refuses to change his ways to suit a woman. Raised in the country, his upstate farm is where his heart is. Vic tolerates the city to direct his plays but returns to the farm every weekend. The guy is just HOT...

Niall, though previously married is relatively sexually naive and Vic not only awakens her passion, he introduces her to new levels of sensuality. He is demanding, inventive and dominant during their sexual encounters. She is submissive and responsive. There is also a tender side to Vic and he develops a concern and compassion for Niall, which he doesn't always verbalize but as a reader, I could feel in his actions.

The dialogue in this book is at times crisp and tense, the narrative flows beautifully and Ms. Kery's prose is sensual, quite outstanding.

Here is short example of the dialogue and prose. Niall is feeling uncomfortable about the speed with which their relationship is moving along. She is trying to communicate this to Vic, who has no intention of slowing down:

"You think I'm coming on too strong," Vic supplied.

She tilted her head uncertainly. "Not just you. I am, too. I don't know what to make of it."

"You think we should back off, take it a little slower?" he prompted.

Her eyes flashed warmly, as if she was relieved that he's found the right words for her. "Don't you think that would be for the best?" she asked.

"No."

Her lower lip trembled. "No?" she repeated incredulously after several seconds.

Vic crumpled the flimsy paper cup and tossed it on top of the bag. She wasn't going to like this, but---"No. I want you too much to take you in stingy little servings. Maybe you'll think that's greedy of me, but I'm not the kind of guy who takes what he wants in half measures." He met her gaze. "That's not who I am, Niall."

Her mouth rounded in a silent, amazed "Oh."

His muscles tensed as he resisted an overwhelming urge to scoot across the floor and send his tongue deep between the lush, round target of her lips."

Wicked Burn © Beth Kery

Niall's history isn't revealed early in the story and I had difficulty putting the book down because I needed to know more about her as much as finding out how her and Vic's story would turn out.

As with any romance novel, we need conflict to make it interesting. Niall and Vic's story is no different, the path to their HEA is not an easy one but in the end, as a reader I found it very gratifying.

For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you know I usually am not all that comfortable with BDSM themed books. This story, is one of the exceptions.

Beth Kery's books are now an autobuy for me. "Wicked Burn" is the first book of 2009 to go on to my list of favorites. By the way, the title of this book? Perfect....

So, that is how I was introduced to Beth's work, and for that I am exceedingly grateful!

Chicago Detective Ryan Daire has many secrets: a love for Shakespeare, an appreciation for the all the finer things in life, and an absolute lack of restraint in the bedroom. Now he has an even bigger secret. In every shifting shadow of the sprawling mansion he’s recently inherited he can see her—tempting, ethereal, and untouchable. Hope Stillwater inhabited that mansion in 1906. Raw desire has formed a conduit between these two passionate souls who are separated by the barrier of time.

Now he has to have her.

Intoxicated by each other’s presence, Ryan and Hope are closer than ever to crossing that inviting boundary between two worlds. But there is one grave danger: Ryan’s job has put him on the trail of a depraved criminal in an investigation that’s risking Hope’s eternal fate and happiness. Now he must do whatever it takes to change history, protect Hope from harm, and set his own desires free.

Sonnet CXVI.

“Let me not to the marriage of true minds”

LET me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O, no! it is an ever-fixed mark,

That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error, and upon me prov’d,
I never writ, nor no man ever lov’d.

William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

The banner on Beth Kery’s website describes her work as, “Steam for the Sophisticated Reader”, and I’m finding that to be very true. While her stories are certainly erotic, they have an inherent sophistication that shows she respects the intelligence of her readership. Her stories encourage a reader to become invested in her well developed characters and the unique plots she crafts for them.

I do believe escapism is the major part of what romance readers enjoy about the books we choose. However, from a personal perspective expanding my knowledge base from an author’s work is part of what I hope to gain as a reader. I often feel those who criticize the romance reading community fail to grasp this fact. “Daring Time”, Ms. Kery’s wonderful erotic fantasy, time travel novel to be published in May 5, 2009, was a thoroughly enjoyable “escapist” read, however it was also an enriching experience. I learned about Chicago’s history, some famous people that lived in the Prairie Avenue District. From a literary perspective, with each of Ms. Kery’s books my comfort level with BDSM themed stories is increasing.

The reason I quoted Shakespeare’s 116th Sonnet, is because I think Ms. Kery used part of a line in the third stanza, “Love’s not Time’s fool”, as a literary technique called forshadowing, which assists the reader to be able to predict what might occur later in the story. And, IMHO it is brilliant.

Daring Time

Ryan Daire, a vice cop working for the Chicago Police department is given a mansion on “Prairie Avenue”, by his old college professor, family friend and mentor Alistair. The Prairie Avenue District in Chicago was the millionaire’s row in late 19th and early 20th century. The mansion is therefore steeped in history and as Ryan and his partner Ramiro Menendez walk into the grand ballroom with it's glittering chandelier he feels an instant appreciation for its majesty. Ryan can even visualize the elegant décor and a flawlessly beautiful woman with long dark hair, dressed in a ball gown looking over her shoulder at him. He thinks she is a mirage.

During their exploration of the house, they find a woman’s bedroom that hosts a large brass bed with two mahogany tables. Ramiro discovers an old leather bound book in one of the drawers which proves to be a book of Shakespeare’s Sonnets.

Ryan Vincent Daire isn’t your average vice cop; he has a degree in history and was raised by a father who taught him a love of Shakespeare, which Alistair nurtured. As he cradles the book in his hands it falls open to a well-worn page which he immediately recognizes as the 116th Sonnet. A massive mahogany wardrobe is also housed within the room and Ryan finds a full-length mirror attached to the door. As he looks into the mirror, which appears somewhat cloudy with age he sees not his own reflection but the same stunning beauty he envisioned in the ballroom of the mansion, except, she is dressed in a skimpy black lace negligee. He is, needless to say, shocked and mystified; more than that he cannot believe she is an apparition of his imagination. From here things really get interesting.

In the year 1906, Hope Stillwater, an upper class virginal “gentlewoman”, is in her bedroom in the Prairie Avenue mansion, she has locked the door and pulled out a provocative negligee she has secreted away in the back of the wardrobe. Hope was given the sheer black lacy garment by her unlikely acquaintance and friend Addie Sampson, the madam of one of the only “respectable” brothels in the city. She and Hope share a common goal of abolishing the practice of white slavery. While Hope feels scandalized wearing the garment, she carefully puts it on and stares at her reflection in the full length wardrobe mirror. Instead of seeing herself, a very tall handsome “exotic” man is staring back at her; Hope of course is startled and frightened, and leaps away from the mirror.

In a strange turn of events, she finds an inscription Ryan has left in her book of Shakespearean Sonnets. His name, the address of her house and the year 2008 is written in the margin on the page of her favorite sonnet. Ryan finds a dedication to Hope inscribed in the same book found in the bedroom.

After Ryan moves into the old house he has further magical, ghostly, erotic encounters with Hope. He manages to glean information from the police archives that Hope Stillwater was murdered at the young age of 25 in the year 1906 and he sets out to try and reach and save the woman who has become his erotic obsession. Through careful analysis and luck, he ascertains what the catalyst is to propel him 100 years into the past to find and hopefully rescue her.

Raised by a father who encouraged her independent spirit and nurtured her intelligence and love of literature and art, Hope is a crusader for poor woman who are taken advantage of by the low life misogynistic white slaver "Diamond Jack Fletcher". She and her father have proved to be a major thorn in Jack’s side, which results in Hope being put in a gravely dangerous situation.

The dynamic between these two lovers is sensual and powerful, the erotic tension sizzles between them initially across the mirror, time’s barrier. They can see each other but despite intense longing cannot actually touch; I felt goose bumps running up my arms as they attempted to reach and touch one another.

I really wasn’t sure how their erotic encounters would evolve because of this being an early 20th century female heroine raised with all the social mores and restrictions of that time, and a 21st century sexually dominant male hero. However, Ms. Kery penned the love scenes beautifully. Ryan sexually initiates Hope in a highly unusual manner, given their situation, but he also nurtures her trust and passion. Despite warring with her mores and values, Hope is very sexually inquisitive and blossoms as a submissive within the confines of the bedroom. There is a scene in a seedy bordello where Ryan is forced to perform certain sexual acts with Hope to save her from being violated and brutalized. However, again the scene is written in such a way that the sensuality flows between them, Ryan is determined to ignite Hope’s passion making the best out of a horrific situation.

Despite ingrained perceptions with respect to a woman’s “station” in her time, Hope isn’t a pushover; she is an intellectual and extremely well spoken. She challenges Ryan and her independent nature does put her in danger. As a reader, I loved this heroine because she is a woman with ideals, strength and beliefs well beyond her time. Ryan is forced to make some difficult decisions in order to save her life more than once. Further, he questions his own actions for fear of being the source of Hope’s demise in her time.

There is a parallel fast moving suspense sub-plot in the two time periods involving female white slavery. Hope and her father are involved in thwarting Diamond Jack Fletcher in 1906. In 2008 Ryan and Ramiro have been working for a year to bring “Jim Donahue”, to justice for similar crimes in present day. The plot twists and turns are thrilling and the parallels are surprising.

“Love’s not Time’s fool”, and this exquisite story, while a fantasy, proves that short beautiful line of poetry true.

By the way the picture of Ryan on the book’s front cover? Perfect…..

When “Daring Time”, is released on May 5, 2009, I will purchase my own copy. It is a book I want to hold in my hands.

"Practice Makes Perfect", by Julie James - Review

I’m always nervous when I come off the high of reading an awesome novel and pick up the next story penned by the same author. Will the read be as good? Or, will I be disappointed? And, if I am disappointed what the hell am I going to say when I review the story?

Thankfully, Julie James did not disappoint - at all. In fact “Practice Makes Perfect”, while different, was as equally enjoyable as “Just the Sexiest Man Alive”. Further, this book takes “the battle of the sexes”, to a whole new level. The theme of the story involves workplace adversaries who become lovers.

Practice Makes Perfect

Payton Kendall is a female lawyer specializing in “employment law, particularly single-plaintiff race and gender discrimination lawsuits”. Politically, she is liberal to the core, a vegan, a strong-minded feminist, she has a sarcastic rapier wit and is ultra competitive in her work environment. Payton is weeks away from a earning a partnership at the elite law firm in Chicago where she has devoted long arduous hours for the past 8 years. Payton has never lost a case; she is a top-notch lawyer having earned her way in what is still predominately a man’s profession.

J.D. Jameson is a male lawyer specializing in class action law, handling large multi-plaintiff, multi-district cases. Politically, he is conservative to the core, a meat eater, comfortable with the “upper class – old boy’s club”, due to his upbringing by wealthy old school parents. J.D. is cocky as hell and is ultra competitive in, well everything. He is weeks away from a earning a partnership at an elite law firm in Chicago where he has devoted long arduous hours for the past 8 years. He too is a top-notch lawyer having earned his way up in the firm, and he sees women in his profession as having a edge because of their gender.

Oh, and Payton and J.D.? They work for the same firm and have offices across the hall from one another. Neither is sure what initiated the "dislike" they feel for one another, but each views the other as the "enemy". They maintain an outward air of civility in the office however, when they are out of earshot of the administrative staff and other associates, they have been "at war" for eight years. They even compete to be first into the office in the morning. The cutting sarcastic exchanges between these two, which I am now coming to enjoy as “vintage Julie James”, are hilarious.

Competitive angst bubbles between J.D. and Payton reaching the boiling point, and pours forth when the partnership committee of the firm decides that only one of them is going to make partner because of “strategic leveraging” which will force the other to leave the firm. Both of these characters have invested their heart and soul into their career at the firm for a long time and at first they are stunned. Then they become angry with the powers that be for forcing them into an even more competitive situation. What makes it worse, is that the senior partner “Ben” uses J.D. and Payton’s expertise in a bid to reel in a huge client for the firm prior to the shoe falling with respect to the partnership decision.

When a conversation between Payton and J.D. following the announcement of the partnership decision turns sour, the gloves really come off and it’s every man/woman for themselves.

There is an absolutely hilarious courtroom scene involving Payton that you will have to read the book to enjoy but all I can say is that Ms. James once again had me howling with laughter!

I’ve read a couple of reviews that indicated they had difficulty liking J.D. in the early part of the story because of his chauvinistic attitudes. However, I liked him. He and Payton are extremely prideful, driven people with a strong set of principles. The narrative allowed me to see that the angst and competitive issues between them was actually sexual tension that had been simmering for 8 years. This story is a slow burn with respect to these lovers finally making it to the bedroom, once again this is a contemporary romance and there is no graphic sex. However, I thought the love scene penned for them was fun, rather sweet and quite sexy.

The secondary characters were awesome. J.D.’s friend Tyler is an absolute hoot. Here is a short example of an exchange between J.D. and Tyler as the former offers his friend some advice with respect to Payton.

“No, see, that’s what makes it all the more interesting, “ Tyler said. He adopted a grandly dramatic tone. “‘Does our fair Ms. Kendall truly loathe the arrogant Mr. Jameson as she so ardently proclaims, or is it all just a charade to cover more amorous feelings for a man she reluctantly admires?’”

Up front, the cabdriver snorted loudly. He appeared to be enjoying the show.

“Psych 101 again?” J.D. asked.

Tyler shook his head. “Lit 305: Eighteenth-Century Women’s fiction.” He caught J.D.’s look and quickly defended himself. “What? I took it because of the girls in the class. Anyway, I see a bit of P and P dynamic going on between you and Payton.”

J.D. didn’t think he wanted to know. Really. But he asked anyway. “P and P?”

Tyler shot him a look, appalled. “Uh, hello--Pride and Prejudice?” His tone said only a cretin wouldn’t know this.

“Oh right, P and P,” J.D. said. “You know, Tyler, you might want to pick up your balls—I think they just fell right off when you said that.”

Up front, the cabdriver let out a good snicker.”

“Practice Makes Perfect” © Julie James

LOL!

Tyler is actually a very cool guy and when the going really gets tough with Payton, J.D. turns to his best friend for support and guidance.

Then there is Payton’s mother. OMG. Lex Kendall calls her daughter “Sis”, protested everything, felt Barbie dolls and fairy tales were sexist. She also is a vegan and vehemently opposes people wearing fur coats. It makes for an interesting exchange when Payton and Lex run into J.D. and his parents in a restaurant.

There are a couple of surprises in store for readers with respect to J.D. and a rather ugly secret he has kept for years concerning Payton. Lets just say a past mistake comes back to bite him in the butt big time nearly causing irreparable damage to a burgeoning relationship with Payton.

The only thing I was left wondering was what the initials J.D. stood for? lol

“Practice Makes Perfect”, is now sitting on my keeper shelf next to Julie James’ first novel. I love her voice and am so looking forward to her future work.

If you would like to read an excellent review of “Practice Makes Perfect”, please stop by Stacy’s blog, "Stacy's Place On Earth". It was Stacy's review that spurred me on to read "Just the Sexiest Man Alive". Thank you Stacy!

It's Week #1 Of The Semi-Finals! "Which Movie Has The Best Kissing Scene"?

Thank you everyone who came out and voted for the Week #3 choices in our "Which Movie Has The Best Kissing Scene Contest". There were 36 votes which is awesome!

It was a close race last week, however the "Cold Mountain " scene won by 3 votes, receiving 15 or 41%. "The Quiet Man" was second with 12 votes or 33%. "Breakfast At Tiffany's" received 9 votes or 25%. So, the kissing scene from "Cold Mountain" will move on to Semi-Final #2.

Welcome to the first week of the semi-finals! I know the voting is going to be tight to decide which is the best of the three scenes.

The first semi-final choice is the wet and sultry kiss scene from "The Notebook". Here is Ryan Gosling as "Noah Calhoun" and Rachel McAdams as "Allie Hamilton" engaging in memorable smoochies on the dock in the rain.

**Please Note: this clip is longer than the one I originally posted in Week #1 and I think it is an improvement. :)

The second semi-final kissing scene choice is the baseball field smokin hot smooche from "Never Been Kissed".

Here is Michael Vartan as "Sam Coulson" and Drew Barrymore as "Josie Geller", I still say this end scene is *sigh worthy*.

The third semi-final kissing scene this week is the sweet, lovely, extremely popular train station smoochies from the mini-series, "North and South". If you remember this scene was suggested and found by the lovely Renee at Renee's Book Addiction.

Here is Richard Armitage as "John Thornton" and Daniella Denby-Ashe as "Margaret Hale". I have to say this is sensuous scene.

Thanks Again Renee.

As always the poll is placed at the top of the page, voting will conclude one week today (Friday May 8th) when Semi-Final Week #2 choices will be posted for voter consideration!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
