Maya Banks Rocks My Socks

This isn't a book review per se. I want to talk about a specific author that hasn't disappointed me yet, Maya Banks.

I wrote a review of two of her ménage stories in October, here but along with wonderful sexy romance stories, she also writes exciting paranormal shapeshifter books.

"GoldenEyes", is a shapeshifter story, available in e-book format and one of my favorites. Maya indicates a sequel to "GoldenEyes" is forthcoming and all I can say is 'WOOT'. Now, I have to preface this by saying that I have her "Falcon Mercenary Group", books downloaded on my e-bookwise but haven't read them yet. From all accounts these two books are full of intrigue, action and very sensual.

If you enjoy a romance story with a twist but not heavy on the erotic sex scenes, you may like "Seducing Simon". This story has a friends who become lovers theme. However, there is also a unique twist in the plot. The hero and his buddies are very HOT firemen. What is not to like about that?

If you like your romance plot with BDSM in the mix then "Sweet Surrender", would be a recommendation. As a reader who struggles with any sort of hard core BDSM scenes, I didn't find this book at all upsetting. In fact, the love scenes were tastefully written in keeping with wonderful solid characters and a fabulous plot. There is one ménage à trois sequence but it is not an overpowering scene in the book. Maya is writing sequels involving the strong supporting male characters written into the plot of "Sweet Surrender", and I cannot wait for their publication.

"For Her Pleasure", is a book that is designed like an anthology but the three stories interconnect involving characters introduced in the first novella, 'What She Wants'. The stories involve two romances, one is a menage a trois and the second is a romantic suspence. The characters are strong but quite conflicted in this book, and as always in a Maya book, unique.

Finally, "Brazen", is a ménage à trois story about a woman who returns to her home in Texas and the two men she loves after a year away in Paris, France. 'Jaz' wants brothers, 'Seth and Zane Morgan', however her desires don't necessarily coincide with what these two men are able to emotionally provide. Another book, I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am still working through Maya's back list of e-books but tend to save them for times when I have an extended period of reading time available because once I start one of her books, I cannot put it down.

Thanks Blanche!

Her books have such a nice tone and flow to them. And the great thing is no one is the same. I cannot wait for her next publications.

I'm reading one of her novellas right now and can't put it down. lol

And, you are right - we are lucky.

I would like to read some of her stuff, but I don't like menage. Her falcon mercenary books aren't menage, right?

I looked at her Sharon Long books, I think I will try one of those first. I've looked at Her Majesty, My Love a few times. Looks really good.

Hi Amy:

I'm not sure if the Falcon Mercenary stories are menage or not. I know they are shapeshifters and it's an action/espionage type of plot.

I will find out if they are menage or not.

You may like her Sharon Long books. To be honest I've not read any of them because they look historical and I'm not in to historical romance. Blanche has read them so she would be able to recommend.

She is publishing a Harlequin Desire book under the Maya Banks pseudonym called "The Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress", that is definitely not a menage story in December. So if you like the Harlequin Desire line of books, that might be one to read.

Hope you are enjoying a good weekend.

Hi Lea,

I think I've mentioned before that I've yet to read a Maya Banks novel and while e-books aren't my thing, your praise of her writing will have me invistigating what she has in print. :)

Lea, I have been waiting for the much talked about pool scene with Rhage and Mary forEVER! I couldn't believe that Ward didn't include it. Life can be so unjust! :)

Are you registered on the BDB Message Boards? If not, I'll keep an eye out (I'm content with Lurkedom) and if she ever does post that scene (that she's been talking about for years) I'll be sure to let you know.

Oh and I posted a comment on my blog with my fav LE scenes - 1st meeting and Friday's. :)
